bad news/good news

Well, last night I got the email I had been waiting for regarding the choice of a wine and music festival poster winner, and another local artist is jumping up and down to have their work featured for the festival. However, the good news is that I now get to show you all those process photos I took of my poster design as I was working on it! See, the cup always IS full to overflowing:)
I knew right away that I wanted to feature the most recognizable aspect of our town center... the clock tower... and quite some time ago I took a lot of reference photos both before and after my professional day. I bought the perfect bottle of wine totally for the shape of the bottle, and some really nice glasses too.
The measurement requirements were very specific, but I created the piece on a full sheet of 300 lb watercolor paper with deckled edges intact. Space needed to be built into the design for the festival logo and schedule of events, and the composition developed from there.
This was a fun project and a good exercise, and I am so glad I participated.
Et Voila!

Sorry you didn't win but you created a great entry! I hope lots more of these opportunities become available.
