POSTCARDS FROM THE ART EDGE

Thanks to the United States Postal Service for their participation in this exhibit. This show is about process and democracy. Every art show has minimum standards to meet and our’s here was weight and portability. Some works mailed to us were damaged or late and are not in the exhibit.

Some artists sent multiple works but I made a decision to exhibit just one piece by each artist to maintain the rhythm of democracy – the belief in one chance for us all – that I could see developing as we unpacked each envelope, examined each postcard, and signed the occasional registered return receipt at the Lincoln Heights Post Office.

This show would not have happened without the diligence and effort of the i-5 Gallery’s Director Nancy Ramirez, the precise prepatory work in hanging the art of Heimir Bjorgulfsson, the approval of the Brewery Art Association’s Board of Directors and the generosity of Carlson Industries.
