celebrating six years of starting over - and a drawing for a piece of art
Six years ago on this day I left a house reeking of hatred and aggression with a suitcase, and began an odyssey that has led me here to a new life, a new love, a job, a studio, and a full time art career once again that means everything to me.
I am trying this year to focus on all I have gained, and not what I have lost... for the losses have been tremendous and have only grown proportionally to the good things that have happened, but focusing on the loss will get me nowhere fast and that is not what my life is about.
In celebration of this anniversary I am going to offer everyone who reads here (online and real-life friends) an opportunity to have their name entered into a drawing for a piece of art. Leave a comment below or shoot me an email to: judithheartsong@aol.com. Obviously you will need to feel comfortable with providing me your snailmail address if you win the drawing, and the art will be shipped at no cost to you.
The piece of art is a real treat. The tri-fold two-sided postcard has arrived home safe and sound from the gallery show in California, still in pristine condition. Some of you have seen the piece in person and it would be gorgeous displayed in a shadowbox frame to hang on your wall.

Here's to beginning again every day.

Hello Lor..... so good to see you here. Thank you so much.
Happy Anniversary! And, yes, please!
Thank you so much for your friendship:)
Happy anniversary, Judith! Hope that the years to come will be full of peace and happiness....
oh, thank you so much for being here, it means a lot.
Hand in hand we both have slowly grown into ourselves dear friend. Eerily enough it was 5 1/2 years ago I left my own abuser. We both have been fortunate to have found a soulmate who soothes the pain.
Congratulations on 6 years hon! You've earned your voice back ten fold. (Hugs)Indigo
Indigo, thank you for the bond we share...... so many words never have to be said in the shorthand of our understanding. Thank you.
Judi, sharing your journey through your blog has been an honor. You and Virginia inspire and encourage me. Love and congratulations to you on your anniversary. (I feel greedy putting my name in, but I can't resist.)
Cynthia, I am honored to know you. Love and hugs to you and Womanchild. I am always here for you both.
I would love to be entered into the contest! I thought my opportunities were dying to to have a chance to own a real Judi Heartsong piece of art!

Judith:
It is most certainly a celebration to your new found freedom and the new life you have made for yourself in Maryland. The journey continues ..... and as you have found your voice and creative energy directed in your artwork, you will also find more ways to find inner peace. Although I know this is an incredibly long road, you now realize how important you are to so many people, including me!
S.
oh Theresa... all you ever had to do was ask..... or we could barter for an autographed book:):):)
And thank you Dear S..........
Happy Anniversary!! And, sign me up for the contest... I would never turn down a chance to own another piece of your art!
thank you for always being a friend... and you're in!
I remember reading all those years ago your struggle to find peace in your life. I am so glad that you are so happy now. And I would be trilled to own an original judithHeartsong!
Happy HAPPY anniversary! I've grown to love ya over the past few years. You are a most amazing friend. Anne
Thank you so much my friend...... I would be delighted to have you own one!
oh Anne... my sister-friend. To know each other through journals and then to get along every bit as well (if not better) in person is one of the delights in my life.
I look forward to another trip out one day, with coyotes howling right outside the fence and me shivering in (fear) delight, and all the magical moments that AZ has to offer....... and I want to see all those sunflowers someday too!!!
Thank you for always being there through thick and thin.
I have not a place containing honor enough to display even the most simple of your artistic talents, so I therefore do not ask to be entered into your drawing, but I do wish for you to know my deepest laudatory thoughts and feelings for your efforts being rewarded upon the anniversary of your sixth year of a new life realized. Your strength I have leaned upon, your knowledge I have gathered from, your friendship I have treasured.
I don't want my name in the drawing, not because I don't want the artwork, but because I already won something from you previously. But, I wanted to congratulate you and also attest that it is indeed a beautiful piece. I look at it as a taste of your portfolio.
I actually contemplated buying it when I saw it but held back due to the cost at the time and because I didn't want to settle for what was convenient. I want to fall in love with the piece not buy it just for the sake of having it. Does that make sense?
Anyhow...congrats!
you are an inspiration everyday
thank you so much for making yourself
part of all of our lives.
sincerely,
splendid
Happy Anniversary to you, Judi! I think focusing on what you have gained and accomplished over the past several years is a good thing. You have so much going for you right now, I am so happy for you! I only hope it continues, for you truly deserve it.
~Colleen :)
Oh, thank you Zoe.... I am glad you're here.
Dear Robbie, thank you. Everybody finds the piece that is just right for them, and I totally understand. Thank you for taking pictures at the gallery show, and for always being a friend here.
Splendid,
Thanks for being here and sharing in the journey.
Hey Colleen,
Thank you for always offering support and wisdom and kindness. It never goes unnoticed.
Judi
Happy Anniversary! My heart rejoices with you. To be in such a good place and knowing that oneself brought that about is a marvelous feeling.
While I would love to have another HeartSong (and plan to) I will allow someone else the joy I have each day of looking at mine and knowing someone so special created it. Best to you always my friend.
Happy anniversary! I too am a survivor who tuned my life around. All of the very best to you today and always.
Happy Anniversary!! Freedom is a wonderful thing to celebrate. I'm so happy for you, and grateful to you for sharing your inspirational story. As you know, I've been following you since the AOL days, and I love every entry. You are an inspiration to others.
Enjoy your day!
hugs

All your art is absolutely beautiful. I love the word "heartsong" and all that it implies. I wish we all could hear our own heartsong and feel peace and contentment in our lives.

Dear Connie, thanks for being here... it is definitely all about the journey!
Zura, thank you!
Kris,
Thanks for hanging with me all this time. The bonds that aol journals helped to grow have been an amazing thing..... even after all this time. That will be the legacy of JLand.
My dear friend, Judi,
I am so happy to know that you are still moving forward on your journey. Out of all the things I admire most out of you, my favorite is your ability to be a phoenix, no matter what the situation may be. You have this beautiful gift to rise above the hatred and hurt, and while at times, you struggle, your always manage to bring a smile to someone else's face, including mine, on a daily basis.
I am so proud to know you, and even more proud to call you my friend.
Lots of love, and hugs,
H
ps: i'd love to be entered in the drawing!
Dear Heather, thank you. The one thing I am is positive... sometimes hopelessly or foolishly, but I always hope for the best and although that has not brought my children back to me or helped them see the truth of the situation that I lived with for twenty long years, being positive has brought lots of other wonderful things into my life, and for each and every one I am profoundly grateful. Interestingly you and my daughter are about the same age...... I hope that she has grown in wisdom as you have so beautifully.
Thank you for your love and friendship.
You're in!!!!
Happy Anniversary to you Judith. As you continue to grow in your new life, I want you to know that at a time in my life when I was wondering ... about many things ... your story -- shared so willingly with all of us was an inspiration to me. Your determination and courage in the face of the unknown ... those first tentative steps of yours ... I'm sure they've helped more people than you can ever know.
thank you Kathy/
