a sweet surprise

sunflower cake

Virginia brought home a chocolate sunflower cake with vanilla icing yesterday and it definitely deserved a photograph. I spent the day in the studio working on the pears and painting the glass bowl. An artist friend whose paintings and talent I tremendously admire stopped by for a studio visit yesterday and she was surprised at the new paintings I was creating and offered very nice words about the growth and direction of my work. A compliment from a talented fellow painter is tremendously valuable and a great gift that I will remember. She also gifted me with a postcard of one of her recent paintings and I plan to visit her studio in Kensington one day soon.

Your new window display is lovely.. I agree about the blue bottles..I love cobolt blues.

Your new work is fabulous.. I love the stripes too.. they really do add interest and balance. Can't wait to see the detail work when it's added.
