Yesterday I loaded a vehicle loaned by a friend with all my carefully packed work to drive to National Harbor. I pulled up to a parking spot just outside the new gallery and after saying hello to the man on a tall ladder painting all the trim outside, walked in the door to find all the major pieces of furniture placed, fresh rich paint colors (YUM!!!) on the walls, and an electrician installing all the new track lighting. Boxes, crates, and bubbled art was everywhere, just waiting to be placed in a glorious jumble of color and texture.
The space is open and gorgeous and you can already see the good bones that will make the layout spectacular. I got a little shiver. We got all the work safely inside and carefully stacked, leaning against a wall (I am really particular about how my work is stored) and after a great conversation and grabbing a handful of her hot-off-the-presses postcards I left the owner to do her thing and make her magic as she prepares to open any minute now. My art will be mixed into all the groupings and settings with Maris Elaine's gorgeous furniture and accessories to go along with all the fine art, and the PR image opportunities will be terrific.
I am planning to take lots of pictures for my website and for all the people who are too far away to attend the opening. I am fortunate that so many far-away friends read both this blog and my monthly newsletter, and they feel like we are in touch all the time because they have a constant flow of information about what is happening for me here.
There is so much going on... lots of flow..... there is a huge piece of news on the horizon that I am waiting to get the final word on, and there is also a big project in the works with a good friend of mine! Stay tuned......
