all settled in & making art

I spent the whole day in the studio yesterday and Virginia came along and settled in at my work table with her computers to do some work while I watered plants outside in my bare feet and got down to my work.

I finished two more (of four) small canvases that are all mates, and go along with another larger canvas that I spotted with alcohol early in the process. All five canvases are painted with dark brown silhouetted ferns and other plants and then overpainted with silver.

Next comes the faux encaustic process that I have been adapting and the big 30 x 30 painting looks wonderful with its faux encaustic topcoat complete now that it is dry. Partway through the afternoon I started on another floral canvas on unbleached linen canvas just for fun.... a tree peony in white and yellowy greens.
