a day trip adventure

Saturday we drove north to Frederick and turned west from there to go to a 400 acre working farm to visit and look at some turkey feathers that Virginia was interested in. Once Virginia let us in through the heavy metal gate we drove around calves playing to get to the farm house. We got to meet four huge Pyrenees Mountain Dogs and two of their four pups - one of whom was dragging a great big boot all around the farm yard and made me laugh. Spotted pigs and roosters jogged by on their way to somewhere and in the distance we could hear goats and turkeys. We saw some young kittens all nested in a box and got to hold two of them and feed one.

After our farm visit we drove on to Shepherdstown, WV and had lunch and a stroll through all the shops along the main street. On our return trip we stopped along the Potomac river and photographed this train bridge that crosses the river.... I cannot imagine the view from up there as a train crosses the bridge.

It was a wonderful peaceful day.
