Lots of rain here in the environs of DC and we have needed it so I am delighted to see gray skies and raindrops outside our windows. The Potomac is supposed to be very high by Friday.... even higher than the pictures that I took during another time of flooding in January of 2010.
chameleon update, demo opportunity, and lend a hand

And one last thing today......
One of my favorite long distance artist destinations for interesting things needs our help: The Scrap Exchange After a tumultuous spring, we’re settling into our amazing new location at the Cordoba Center for the Arts (across the parking lot from Golden Belt, at the east end of downtown Durham). The space is awesome, we think we can rock and roll here, but we need a little bit of help getting to our fabulous future.
We’re trying to raise $60,000 in just a few short weeks to fill the gap in our budget left by the relocation expenses and multiple moves, coupled with increased expenses at our new facility.
We had a huge amount of community support in the spring when everything went down with the Liberty Warehouse (see the news reports, as well as a little video we made about the first overnight move—or if you want the blow-by-blow account, check out the What Happened? page). And we can’t thank everyone enough.
But we still need help getting us through.
We know it’s tough for everyone these days, but we’re hoping people can dig deep and help us make it through this transition.
Because if things are tough now, think how much worse they’d be without The Scrap Exchange.
Thank you as always for your amazing generosity and ever-present support.
With love and gratitude, The Board and Staff of The Scrap Exchange
Saturday we drove north to Frederick and turned west from there to go to a 400 acre working farm to visit and look at some turkey feathers that Virginia was interested in. Once Virginia let us in through the heavy metal gate we drove around calves playing to get to the farm house. We got to meet four huge Pyrenees Mountain Dogs and two of their four pups - one of whom was dragging a great big boot all around the farm yard and made me laugh. Spotted pigs and roosters jogged by on their way to somewhere and in the distance we could hear goats and turkeys. We saw some young kittens all nested in a box and got to hold two of them and feed one.
After our farm visit we drove on to Shepherdstown, WV and had lunch and a stroll through all the shops along the main street. On our return trip we stopped along the Potomac river and photographed this train bridge that crosses the river.... I cannot imagine the view from up there as a train crosses the bridge.
I was just about to put gas in my car a couple of weeks ago in Rockville when I looked up and saw these two guys painting the side of the building next to the gas station. This makes my workload look much more manageable, I guess..... but honestly my first thought was: what a great mural wall!!!!!

To me, it is all about the visual..... it always has been. I paint large-scale florals in juicy acrylic, bits and pieces of the natural world, and abstracted women in watercolor, and I have been painting and muraling for more 30 years. Come and visit my new studio and gallery located in Glen Echo, Maryland.
